On break from taking new students until mid-December 2025. I'm glad you're here! I have 5+ years of tutoring/teaching experience in English, German, Italian, + Spanish. I'm largely self taught and a speaker of 11 languages w/ a degree in German + 150-hour TEFL certification. I understand linguistic challenges and psychological struggles that hold us back (perfectionism, self criticism, guilt, heritage languages, etc.). I help you learn, and coach going from overwhelmed and stuck to resilient, confident, consistent, and uncovering how to be authentically you in your languages. I structure students' lessons not only keeping their learning style in mind, but also focusing on who they are authentically behind their language studies. Therefore, building long term student relationships is very important to me and my work. I love sharing tips that will compliment language learning habits in general. I find different ways to explain a concept and understand how to energize my lessons through new material, and will always leave time for students to tell me about any mental hurdles I can help them through while learning. I am very patient, compassionate, determined and flexible to only offer the best in helping students reach their goals, beginner or advanced. My lessons & teaching style
I will avoid using English as much as possible (if the target language is not English, that is) and urge my students to do the same, unless otherwise noted. I will adapt our conversations to what you enjoy talking about and/or specific grammar points of the language you want to focus on. I will give out homework, usually from PDFs, slides, or other resources, that include grammar, writing, listening, and/or reading (if you want to focus on one in particular, don't hesitate to tell me!).

Today I completed a trial lesson with Emily. I often get nervous speaking in German because I don't have many opportunities to use the language, but Emily asked a lot of great open ended questions that were challenging and interesting. She also provided me with real-time feedback in the chat. I felt really comfortable speaking with Emily and booked more classes right away!

I've been taking lessons with Emily for a while now, and I really enjoy the English conversation lessons. There are always many interesting topics to talk about. Time flies by so fast, and even though the lessons feel more like chatting with a good friend, Emily always makes sure that I learn something new. I've already reached an advanced level, so it's crucial for me to have a tutor who challenges me and to talk about more complex topics. Emily is the perfect tutor for that. I'm looking forward to more lessons with her after I return from my trip. :)
