Hello from Spain and thanks for checking out my profile!
I’m Jotaro, Esperanto speaker from Tokyo, Japan. I finished my master’s degree in a university in Japan last March, and now I live in Bilbao, Spain, with Working Holiday visa. Do you know anything about my city? Bilbao is one of the most beautiful cities in the Basque region, northern part of Spain, with its unique culture and language, Basque, which I started to learn and speak a little bit. I love learning languages. Now I’m focusing on: Spanish, English, Korean, French and German. I also like singing. When I was in Japan, I often went to karaoke with my friends. Perhaps I might talk about my favourite Japanese singer in our lessons
Me as a Teacher
I don’t have so much experience as an Esperanto teacher. I only gave lessons to some beginners when I was in an Esperanto club in my university. Though, I have taught other languages apart from Esperanto: I taught Spanish for a year in two public high schools in Japan, worked for three years as a Japanese tutor at university, and helped exchange students to practice Japanese. Also, I studied a lot about Japanese language education, so I have a plenty of linguistic knowledge and could apply to our lessons, different kinds of methods based on studies of SLA (Second Language Acquisition)
My lessons & teaching style
Our lessons mainly consist of speaking practice in Esperanto. We could decide a specific conversation topic in advance, or we could talk about something you come up with, or which you want to talk about on a lesson day: your latest news, your hobby, your daily routine, etc. Anyway, my lesson style is basically flexible. I could organise our course just as you want me to. If you’d like to read a novel or a newspaper in Esperanto, we would read them. If you’d like to understand YouTube videos in Esperanto, we would watch them together. Absolute beginners are also very welcome. I prepare materials with translation exercises exclusively for those who just started to learn the language
