Hello! My name is Burak. I am a native Turkish and near-native English speaker from Istanbul.
I am a TEFL certified English teacher and I got qualified to teach in 2018. Since then I have worked one-on-one with adults also taught online in different platforms.
My hobbies are listening and collecting music, travelling, world issues and history, but most importantly I strive to be a lifelong learner and teacher. With my professional background and experience, I will help you gain confidence in your spoken English. You will begin to communicate in a more sophisticated, efficient way.

The reason I have decided to start tutoring on italki is because I love to help people, communicate with them in the language I love and learn about their different cultures.
Patience, motivation and humor are my strongest assets in teaching English to students at different levels. I encourage my students to not be afraid of making mistakes, but I always provide corrections during the lesson so that bad habits are prevented from developing.
My lessons are provided in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. I am a good active listener who makes students feel comfortable, and when I speak, it is slow, clear and at your current level.My lessons & teaching style
During my lessons I will focus on your goals, topics of interest or maybe topics related to your major/profession. The first lesson will be about meeting each other and figuring these out. Then I will bring up material (stories, games, articles, songs, videos etc.) on which we will talk and exchange ideas. I will pay extra attention to some important aspects of learning such as correct pronunciation, grammatical errors, new vocabulary and idioms.
You are always free to ask questions, give feedback, make suggestions and specific requests.My teaching material

He is calm, speaks clearly and slowly, and communicates well. He understands my learning goals and is ready to customize our lesson time to help me move forward. He uses the topics I want to learn more about to build exercises. I have confidence that he is an effective teacher of the Turkish language. He is able to correct my mistakes and find ways to help me fix them in the future. I look forward to more lessons with him.

It was a great first lesson with Burak! I was a bit nervous because I only know a handful of basic expressions in Turkish but Burak was very patient and explained everything in a clear and concise way.
