I’m Phoenix, a university professor in Korea, as well as a husband and father. I’m here to help you improve your Korean and connect with learners from around the world—and beyond.
I’m also an outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, and spending time outdoors with my dog, Lelle — walking, exercising, and training her. In my free time, I play the drums and bass, and I love reading.

I hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from one of the top universities in South Korea, and I am currently a tenured full-time professor teaching and conducting research in electrical and information engineering.
I enjoy teaching and having conversations with people from different backgrounds, which is why I’m excited to be your teacher.
I also plan to live in different countries around the world during my vacations and after retirement, which motivates me to learn languages such as Spanish, Japanese, French, Italian, and German. My lessons & teaching style
I share my screen and type notes in real time during the lesson, so you can clearly follow along and review everything easily. After each class, I provide a PDF or TXT file along with voice recordings of key expressions to support your review.
I offer lessons focused on reading, speaking, and listening with basic grammar for beginners, and casual conversation for intermediate and advanced students. Absolute beginners are welcome—we can start with Hangul, pronunciation, or basic grammar.
Lessons can be customized to your goals, and I can teach in English or Spanish if needed.My teaching material

I'm so happy to have found Phoenix to help me learn Korean! He is creative, kind and patient. He makes sure to give the student lots of room to practice and learn. He also allows you to work things out for yourself, instead of explaining it straight away and not letting you think.
