Hi there, thank you for visiting my iTalki profile page! My name is Jessica and I am an English teacher from the US. I began teaching English because I love learning languages. I've studied French, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese in the past, with varying degrees of fluency in each language. My language studies have led me to experience living abroad in China, Taiwan, and Brazil. I currently live in Japan and teach students at a local technical college focused on foreign language education. I have several hobbies including reading, exploring nature, baking, writing, watching YouTube videos, playing ukulele, drawing, knitting, etc!
I completed my certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (also known as TESOL), and I've enjoyed applying the theories and strategies I've learned through the course in my own classes. I am interested in efficiency when it comes to language learning, and for that reason I try to focus on building vocabulary and grammar that are memorable and immediately usable for my students. In 2024, I completed my Master’s degree in linguistics, and that education has impacted my philosophy as a language teacher as well.
I currently offer two options for classes: "Express Yourself in English" and "Foundations of English."
"Express Yourself in English" is excellent for students who simply want to practice speaking and listening. The "Foundations of English" course is more structured and includes homework assignments. My overall...My teaching material

She prepare teaching materials about my job for me in the class. When there are words I don’t know, she tell me about the word meaning. I took a lesson for an hour this time. Time flies because the lesson is so exciting !!

Jessica is easy to talk to. She pays attention and makes notes, which shows her interest in finding the best topics for conversation. The lesson pass by so quickly.
She corrected my grammar mistakes and gave me some collocations that can make my speech sound more natural.
