TESOL-certified English teacher with MA in Linguistics and 6 years of experience teaching English Hi there, thank you for visiting my iTalki profile page! My name is Jessica and I am an English teacher from the US. I began teaching English because I love learning languages. I've studied French, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese, with varying degrees of fluency in each language. My language studies have led me to experience living abroad in China, Taiwan, and Brazil. I currently live in Brazil and teach adults and teens who are interested in improving their conversational fluency. I have several hobbies including reading, walking in nature, baking, writing, watching YouTube videos, drawing, knitting, etc! I completed my certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (also known as TESOL), and I've enjoyed applying the theories and strategies I've learned through the course in my own classes. I am interested in efficiency when it comes to language learning, and for that reason I try to focus on building vocabulary and grammar that are memorable and immediately usable for my students. In 2024, I completed my Master’s degree in linguistics, and that education has impacted my philosophy as a language teacher as well. My overall goal is to help students build their confidence in their abilities to express themselves - no matter the context. I focus on clear and effective communication over perfection, so please don't worry about making mistakes :)

Today, we did role playing in the lesson. It is very good for me to prectice talking! After doing that, she always ask me that I have any questions about topics and explain words that I didn’t understand. I quite recommend taking her lessons!
