About Me

Born of Italian father and English mother, I've lived most of my life between these two beautiful countries, besides travelling to other countries too and living there for shorter periods of time. My passion for languages has led me to study several of these, such as French, Spanish and Norwegian. I currently study Tibetan and Greek, and would love to continue learning new languages in the future, as a way for broadening my mind and deepening my understanding of different cultures and mentalities. I'm particularly interested in ancient languages (sacred ones especially) and minority languages and their preservation. I also teach meditation, comparative religion and gnostic anthropology.Me as a Teacher
I graduated in Spanish with English Language at Westminster University in London, in 2011, and that's when I first started considering teaching. I took my DITALS (Italian Teaching certificate) in 2012, and started teaching English privately at the same time. I then took my TEFL certification in 2016 and straight after that I began teaching English professionally. I taught Business English in Florence for two years, then I moved to Sicily where I currently teach English to children, teenagers and adults.
I've also taught Italian privately to foreign students, such as Japanese, English and Americans. My lessons & teaching style
My teaching style is highly conversational, loosely based on DOGME and TBL. With lower levels I make more use of flashcards, drawing, miming and other eliciting techniques.
With children I tend to be more dynamic, creative, and I put more emphasis on sound and recurring patterns (repetition, drilling techniques) as well as vocabulary (flashcards). In the classroom I try to have fun with them and play games that involve total physical response.Certificates
TKT CLIL: Content and Language Integrated Learning - Cambridge English - 2024Preparation in the TKT CLIL module was required to get this certificate, which enables me to teach CLIL in public schools with a more solid preparation according to Cambridge English standards.

For anybody interested in talking about faith, meditation and the spiritual life, you'd be hard pressed to find a better tutor!! Joe has an incredible depth of knowledge and lived experience in the area! Also, since he is fully bilingual, it makes it incredibly easy to find the right translation when you're struggling to express some of the more esoteric ideas.
