I'm a 34 year old Canadian born in Montreal, Quebec to Italian parents who has a passion for languages, travel, cultures and food but more than anything - teaching and helping people feel empowered to use new languages.
I have used teaching English as a second language as a means of becoming a teacher more quickly than needing to go through rigorous years of studies. It has also served as a tool for me to learn more languages and in turn travel the world with a local eye rather than a tourist's.
Me as a Teacher
I believe making students comfortable and happy is the most important thing as a teacher. I make sure the students are happy and feel like pushing themselves, whether it be by asking questions about words, terms, grammatical issues or simply just being colloquial and talking about our days in ways we previously hadn't.
I think that caring about the students' progress such as revisiting old errors, lessons or topics of interest is pivotal to learning. As we amass more vocabulary and grammar we often lose track of some easier, earlier lessons.
My lessons & teaching style
I always open the class with simple conversation such as recent or future plans, to practice verb tenses and real day-to-day language skills. I always correct errors as they're made so the student can hear it and fix it immediately rather than after a sentence is finished.
I like to focus on conversational English applied after teaching a grammatical rule or set of words such as adverbs of frequency. This allows me to narrow down the lesson to one topic and increase the range of it's use, starting from a specific sentence towards more complex or entertaining ones we may encounter regularly.
I also enjoy doing exam preparation exercises if the student is unsure or nervous of a future test.

As always, a very good lesson. Jordan is a great teacher. I still have a long way to go but since we started lessons I feel way more confident with my French skills. He follows my mood and makes learning very "organic". Thanks, Jordan!

Another great lesson! Really appreciate Jordan's ability to keep the session on task and focused on our learning objectives. His teaching method balances casual conversation with teaching/ reinforcing grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. This way, classes are not too free-form but not too rigid either.
