Hello, my name is Michael, and I look forward to meeting you. I am an American and currently live there as well. I have spent the last few years teaching ESL online and have over 1800 hours of experience. I enjoy writing and playing games. I am also currently studying Japanese myself (including on italki) of which I currently am certified with a JLPT N4. はじめまして、私の名前はMichaelです。どうぞよろしくお願いします。ゲームや書くことが好きです。数年前から英語を教え始めました。今、私は日本語を勉強しています。そして、２０１９年日本語能力試験のN4を合格しました。

Me as a Teacher

I have spent a number of years teaching in various capacities first starting with tutoring English during middle school. Since then, I've joined multiple programs (both volunteer and paid) that dealt with educating individuals both school-aged and adults. I started teaching ESL a few years ago after getting a TEFL certification of which I've taught classes with over 1700 hours of teaching classes. My goal in the classroom is to always help the student get stronger in their target subject and hopefully have an enjoyable time along the way.

My lessons & teaching style

My teaching style is focused on finding and correcting mistakes as well as breaking down problems into more manageable bites. For example, if a student is having trouble with pronouncing a word, we might split it up by syllables such as banana which is pronounced like buh-nah-nuh.
