Olá! I’m João, a certified European Portuguese tutor based in Lisbon. With a background in tourism, I specialize in practical language acquisition. I try to create a relaxed atmosphere with the students, so they can achieve their full potential while learning the language. My methodology is a mix between structured grammar with cultural immersion, focusing on conversational fluency for real-world use
Me as a Teacher
Since I completed my TEFL certicate in 2017, I’ve taught both in the classroom and in private lessons, including nearly 5000 hours online. Teaching online requires a different set of skills as a teacher, and I believe over the past 6 years I have mastered these skills to provide a balance between learning grammar and vocabulary and spending as much time speaking and communicating as possible. If you are looking to improve your grammar, reading, writing and pronunciation skills, I have a wide range of materials I can provide. We can also have a mix, which works really well.

We do grammar exercises, read articles and talk about many different topics together so that I can learn new vocabulary easily.
