About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Kari. I’m 24 years old and my hobbies include watching movies, learning languages, and discovering new foods. I also absolutely love to dance and am always interested in learning a new dance style from any culture! Also, just so you know, I am a native speaker of American English and a heritage speaker of Mexican Spanish. However, as a language enthusiast, I can speak, read, and write Korean at a basic conversational level, understand Italian at a basic level, and am currently trying to improve my skills in Egyptian Arabic. Therefore, I can understand the intricacies of learning a language.

Me as a Teacher

I have obtained my bachelor’s degrees in Linguistics and Global Studies as well as a 400-hour TESOL certificate. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in TESOL, and am also a Graduate Teaching Fellow within my university's Intensive English Program where I teach academic English. I have a few years of experience teaching and tutoring languages, as well as curriculum development. I even formed a pilot ESL program within my community servicing three cities in Arizona. I consider myself to be a kind and patient teacher that can accommodate to any student’s learning preference.

My lessons & teaching style

I want you speaking from day 1 – even if you just learn to say “hello” or “hola”. I prefer to expose you to authentic material related to your English needs, therefore personalizing your lessons. I have taught elementary school kids, high school students, college students, professionals, and adults from a variety of backgrounds. So I am comfortable in modifying the learning environment to any type of student. Learning a new language is hard enough as it is, so I will try to make it as smooth as possible for you!
