About Me

My name is Maria and I am 26 years old. I was born in Cologne and spent most of my life there. Since I am from the west of Germany, I have a neutral German accent. Apart from my native language/German, I can speak English and a bit Spanish. Recently I moved to the beautiful Algarve in Portugal, which is why I also started to learn Portuguese. I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in educational media. My studies focused on how to learn foreign languages effectively with online tools, and I place particular emphasis on making our lessons as fun, interactive and practical as possible.

Me as a Teacher

In the last few years, I have gained a lot of experience in private tutoring with adults of different levels. I therefore always take into account your personal learning needs and your learning style. In my lessons, I use a variation of methods, so It never gets boring for you. We will work with videos, articles, podcasts and other media. Throughout the lessons, I correct your mistakes and explain grammar if you have questions.

My lessons & teaching style

You want to get more confident in speaking and extend your vocabulary as well? In the conversation lessons we will talk about topics, which you’re interested in, and you will not only enhance your speaking skills, you will also expand your knowledge of German customs, as well as of certain idioms and slangs. You need to prepare for a German exam (e.g. Goethe, telc) or for an important job interview? Then the tailored lessons are perfect for you. In the first lesson, we’ll discuss your goals and set a plan based on your wishes. If you would like to improve your grammar, there is also the possibility to work with me on the textbook Grammatik Aktiv (A1-C1) in a structured manner.

Maria is such an amazing teacher. I really recommend her to anyone who wishes to learn German and wants to feel completely supported in their language journey. Not only does she help me feel at ease when speaking, but she also helps me understand every mistake I make. Maria asks lots of exciting questions and is genuinely interested in what I am up to.
