Born in Canada, and fully fluent in English (C2 level) and French, I’ve lived in Hungary (2000-05), Monaco, Italy, Mexico, Spain (2013-23), and Antigua (2023-24), and I enjoy new challenges—sailing, hiking, and building my own house. I’ve studied eight languages myself, so I understand the frustrations learners face. I began teaching French in 2017 at a university near Barcelona with 120 students and have since worked with doctors, engineers, expats, NGOs, researchers, and businesses... Supportive and adaptable, I adjust each lesson to your goals and style, offering clear explanations, structured courses, and insights into both Canadian & European French. I teach all levels, no problem.

My lessons & teaching style

My current fee is at a discount. At 6,000 lessons, my fee will be: $40 USD/hour At 6,500 lessons, my fee will be: $45 USD/hour At 7,000 lessons, my fee will be: $50 USD/hour 🚫 Please know that : - I don’t teach French to minors (less than 18 years of age) - I need to leave the lesson at the end time in order to not be late for the next one. If you have any pressing questions, please begin with them. 📌The cancellation policy : If needed, please reschedule the lesson at least 24 hours in advance. If not, the lesson will be considered completed & paid. 📌The late policy : I will wait for you for the first 15 minutes of the lesson. Please send me a message on Italki if you'll be late.

En anglais: Francois is an exceptional, superlative instructor who enjoys generously sharing his love and knowledge of the French language. He is incredibly patient, insightful, motivating, flexible, has a wonderful sense of humor, and intuitively understands and anticipates what the student needs to progress and improve. One of his many excellent methodologies is to empower the student to 'find another word' when a 'bloguer' (block) occurs so that learning, (although challenging) takes place in a comfortable and engaging manner. His group lessons are an extraordinary mix of fun, delightful cognitive exercises, interesting memorization techniques, and tons of sharing and learning French.
