‘Much of who you are is where you have been.’ I have been traveling to over 200 cities in 24 countries so far. I love to see the difference among countries, dig into why they are different, learn each culture, and do what the locals do. I also love to share my experiences and cultural facts with others, which brought my path to the education field. With experiences in my career and trips, I found out that open-minded heart, as well as growth and understanding mindset, is a key to be harmonious with others.Me as a Teacher
My majors are English Language and Korean as a foreign language. I was fascinated to teach what I know to other people while I was an English teacher in Korea for four years and I learned how to pour love to my students by spending quality time. Moreover, teaching Korean at the university in the USA made me feel more proud of what I am doing as a native speaker. As a teacher, I consider communication as well as knowledge as the top priority to know what students are struggling with and help with it properly. As a language learner, I prefer to learn grammar, but I found out that it is not helping me to speak fluently because the knowledge of grammar stops me from speaking in the language freely. So my class will be more focused on real-life conversations, then supported with the grammars related to them. Korean Teaching Trip AdvisorContacted several schools in Korea to collaborate with the English Summer camp and held the workshops to inform the students in Tougaloo College as native teachers of Korean cultures including history, food, clothes, traditions, and language. Worked on the Korean trip schedule and the accommodation on a budget.

During today's TOPIK preparation class Jinsol corrected the essay I wrote for homework and gave me valuable feedback, as well as offering many alternative ways to phrase thoughts and sentences I was struggling with. She always manages to motivate me to study harder, despite the fact that this is the second time I've had to postpone taking the TOPIK exam due to the global corona situation. While the TOPIK class is just an hour long, it always makes my day! see you next week!

Learning with Jinsol 선생님 has been very enjoyable and I’ve seen my language skills improve consistently over time. Her feedback and reasoning behind the numerous grammar points only help to strengthen the retention of the language over time. Additionally, the conversations in Korean have helped me become more confident in both sentence construction and comprehensive. Really quite thankful to her for the gains I’ve made in the language!
