Hello. My name is Michelle and I am originally from California. Traveling has always been one of my passions. I have traveled to about 20 countries and originally started teaching English as a way to make money while abroad. Since then, I have discovered that I really enjoy teaching and making a difference in people's lives, so I have continued to teach part-time from home. My method of teaching is very different than other teachers. My undergraduate and graduate university degrees are in social science, psychology and counseling. I am also a certified coach.

In 2009, I earned a 120-hour in-person TEFL certification issued by The Boston Language Institute which included supervised teaching of actual ESL classes. During this training, my instructors regularly told me that I should specialize in Business English. In 2020, I updated my teaching skills by completing a 120-hour TESOL certification program.
I have taught at private language schools, high school English and World Studies, and I have also privately tutored. Covid lockdowns prompted me to begin teaching both adults and young children online.
I specialize in teaching accent reduction and American English through individualized one-on-one sessions.My lessons & teaching style
Trial classes are the only time I use Italki Classroom and they are conversation only--not teaching sessions. I do not teach using the Italki Classroom. I only teach using these platforms: Google Meet/Teams, Zoom, WeChat and WhatsApp.
Our classes are private and I do not teach groups. Recording is not allowed. Students will not receive a refund if they have technical issues, cancel with insufficient notice, or if a session is terminated early due to inappropriate student behavior.
Italki allows for a 5 minute break. I apply this break during the last 5 minutes of class. I directly state when the 5 minute break will be so that all students are aware before scheduling.5.0

Michelle has helped me tremendously in improving my pronunciation skills. She is incredibly nice and professional.

Michelle always inspired me to keep up myself. She is a good teacher while also a good listener. Sometimes I feel like she is more like a life coach, which help me find a better self. I always feel more motivated after a lesson with her.
