Greetings! I'm Ivory, a native English speaker from California.
I speak advanced Spanish and basic Portuguese. Outside of iTalki, I am passionate about travel and have lived in/spent extensive time in Ecuador, Spain, Peru, and Portugal. I also love cycling, dancing, and creative activities like drawing. I’m sure we will have lots to talk about during our class! I look forward to joining you on your language-learning journey. I have taught on Italki for over 2 years, and absolutely love it! Just as I have helped my students improve their English, I have learned so much from our many enriching discussions.
I am flexible to the needs and learning styles of each student on their language-learning journey and will adapt my approach accordingly. Whether you're a complete beginner or practically fluent, I strive to foster an engaging and comfortable teaching environment, in which students can build their confidence in English conversation without being afraid to make a mistake. My students would consider me to be an approachable, patient, and engaging teacher. I incorporate a variety of media and materials into my lessons. I believe the process of learning a new language, although challenging, ought to be a fun experience.

I offer several lesson options depending on your level, age, and linguistic goals, whether they be casual or more academic.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Except in emergencies, I do not accept cancelations within 3 hours of the scheduled class time. I will only wait 15 minutes for students to arrive. If you are unable to attend, the lesson credits will be sent to me.My teaching material

English teaching internAs an English Teaching Intern, I was responsible for the preparation and delivery of lessons for immigrants residing in Spain, from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, with varying levels of fluency. Through this experience, I learned to create dynamic and engaging lessons, with an emphasis on practical language usage tailored to the service industry, in which many of my students worked. The arrival of the COVID-19 crisis forced our transition to an online teaching format.

TutorFor several years, I have worked as a private tutor for students across grade levels in a variety of subjects including ESL, as well as math and Spanish. Additionally, I tutored an adult student with Autism Spectrum Disorder for three years in Reading Comprehension and basic mathematics.
