I’m a native English speaker from Auckland, New Zealand. I discovered a passion for language learning when I relocated to Switzerland in 2019 and started learning French. I have a PhD in biomaterials engineering and have worked as a university lecturer and a software engineer. I’m also an amateur musician, and I enjoy exploring nature and learning about science, history, and politics. From my own experience, I know that speaking a foreign language can be difficult and sometimes a little scary, so my main goal will always be to help you feel comfortable. Learning is more effective when you're relaxed and having fun! My lessons are focused on conversation and developing your confidence and ability to express yourself. It’s important that you learn to speak fluidly, so rather than interrupting you, I will note down any mistakes for us to discuss later. Each lesson is about you, so let’s talk about whatever you’re interested in! I’d love to hear about your hobbies, your culture, and your thoughts on the world. If you’re having trouble finding something to talk about, I am happy to suggest articles or videos for us to discuss. For students and professionals wishing to develop their technical vocabulary, we have the option of discussing more “academic” subjects.
