Hi! I'm a certified Japanese teacher who completed a 420-hour Japanese Language Teacher Training Course. Before teaching on italki, I taught Japanese conversation classes for adults at a local community centre. My teacher training focused on the direct method (teaching Japanese in Japanese), but I also use English whenever it helps students understand grammar or vocabulary more clearly. Having lived and worked in Singapore and Dublin for a total of six years, I understand both the excitement and the challenges of learning a new language and adapting to a different culture. I aim to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My lessons focus on practical communication. I encourage students to speak as much as possible through real-life conversations, so they can confidently use Japanese in everyday situations rather than simply memorising textbook phrases. I use Google Classroom, along with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, to organise lesson materials and make it easy for students to review what we've covered after each lesson. Kei 先生 is an excellent teacher and a wonderful person. I have taken lessons with a few teachers on italki and Kei 先生 is the best! She writes notes during the lesson and sends them as a google sheet after the lesson, with the accompanying hiragana, kanji and English explanations. This is extremely helpful for revision. 今日もありがとうございました。
