Japanese tutor with global mindset (10 years in USA) Hello! My name is Monica. I'm finally back to Italki! Hi! I’m Marika, a Japanese tutor currently based in Fukuoka. I lived in New York for about 10 years. I have several years of experience working in the hospitality and retail industries, where I learned how to communicate naturally and politely with people from all over the world. As a teacher, I focus on creating relaxed and enjoyable lessons where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself in Japanese — even if you’re a total beginner! I can also explain everything in English if needed, so don’t worry if your Japanese level is still low. My goal is to help you enjoy learning Japanese and build the confidence to use it in your daily I’ve been teaching on italki since 2020 and have truly enjoyed connecting with so many students from around the world. I always try to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where you can feel relaxed and confident expressing yourself. My lessons are all about you—your goals, your pace, and your interests. My background in retail sales has given me a deep appreciation for different perspectives and communication styles. I tailor each lesson to your needs and interests, whether that means everyday conversation, vocabulary building, or improving pronunciation and fluency. I want to encourage you to speak as much Japanese as possible! Making mistakes is an important part of learning—it helps you overcome hesitation and build confidence to express yourself in another language....
