Hello! My name is Monica. I'm finally back to Italki!
I’m originally from Tokyo.
After living in the U.S. for a decade, I’ve recently returned to Fukuoka, Japan and am truly excited to start this new chapter back home :)
During my time in the U.S, I worked in the fashion industry in a variety of roles—wholesale, retail management, and running my own vintage clothing store online in New York.
I truly enjoy interacting with people and having conversations with customers. I’d love to hear your stories as well—let’s enjoy a fun chat together!

I’ve been teaching on italki since 2020 and have enjoyed talking with many students.
I always try to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where you can feel relaxed and confident to express yourself. My lessons are all about you—your goals, your pace, and your interests. My background working in retail sales has given me a deep respect for different perspectives and communication styles. I tailor each lesson to your needs and interests, whether that is everyday conversation, vocabulary building, or improving pronunciation and fluency.My lessons & teaching style
I want to encourage you to speak as much Japanese as possible! Making mistakes is a big step toward overcoming hesitation and building the confidence to speak another language.Focusing on conversation and listening.
I can correct you pronunciations since my accent is Neutral.
You can bring up any topics you want to discuss about or I can choose you the topics as well.

such an amazing teacher and fun and interesting lessons!! i can’t believe how fast i’m learning and monica san is very helpful and encouraging every time!! i most definitely recommend her class to anyone and everyone, she’s very flexible and patient and i’m looking forward to more lessons!! :)
