I’ve had over one year of classes with Marta and I’ve already exceeded the level of conversational Portuguese I’d hoped to attain thanks to our classes. Marta is truly a professional instructor and provides excellent grammar guidance and cultural insights. Most classes end with a sore face from smiling so much. Lessons with Marta are always more than I expected. We have been meeting each Tuesday morning at 7am for about a year. In that time, I have become fully conversational. During a recent trip to Central Portugal, people regularly remarked on my pronunciation. As we prepare to move our family to Portugal next year, her guidance has been indispensable. When I started losing steam with verb tenses, she didn’t push harder; she pivoted. Suddenly, we were exploring how the verbs live and breathe inside the lyrics of Portugal’s contemporary musicians. She introduced ancient legends of Portugal that naturally turned into pronunciation practice —sharing the music of the language. You might notice that Marta costs more than other teachers - it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want deep, meaningful conversations — the kind that help you understand why something is said, what the backstory is, and how Portuguese actually works in real life — then Marta is absolutely the right choice.

Every lesson with Marta is energizing! She weaves together current events, seasonal topics, and personal interests while seamlessly incorporating themes and verbs from previous lessons. Her accent is remarkably clear - so articulate that you can almost visualize each word as she speaks. Marta's engaging teaching style makes learning feel natural and conversational rather than rigid or academic. I would highly recommend her to anyone serious about mastering European Portuguese.

This was such a fun class. Honestly, it was great! We talked about the lyrics of a song and learned the expressions that go with them whilst chatting about Portuguese culture along the way. She also somehow managed to tie it to my life and activities. Can't wait to have more lessons with Marta. Very creative teacher.
