I’m Suleiman from Zanzibar. I work as a language tutor online and around Zanzibar, Tanzania. I speak five languages, Swahili as my native, English, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese. And currently I’m learning German, Russian and Mandarin. I like to learn different languages and cultures, it’s my hobby. On my quest of learning languages and cultures, I learned a lot of interesting things. Things that gave me different view of this world. Apart from learning languages, I like to teach them. I’ve helped a lot of people with learning languages. Including tourists, friends and language partners. I also volunteer as a Swahili tutor at NGO called SPEAK.social, it deals with refugees and migrants

We continued to study the irregular Swahili verbs, this class we discussed the usage of the verb Kuwa ko. We also talked about a lot of cultural matters regarding Swahili and Tanzania. It was very interesting, since one of the best things about learning a new language is delving into the culture to which it belongs. Asante sana Sule, tutaonana baadaye!

Suleiman is a great teacher! He explains very clearly and the lessons are well structured to be able to touch on all aspects of learning the language (conversation, grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing). His materials, mostly slides and word documents, are super useful: both concise and complete, and with very clear explanations that go straight to the point while giving a wide picture. He behaves professionally but in a friendly, informal way, and the pace of the lessons is neither slow nor rushed. Totally recommended, 10/10.

Another great lesson! Suleiman, and myself practiced Kiswahili by having a nice conversation. If you're thinking about learning Swahili, Suleiman is your teacher! It's ok to make mistakes! I had many, and he pointed them out, so I could learn from them. After that, we would continue on. At the end of the class, Suleiman gave me a positive re-enforcer by his kind words of encouragement. I will continue to learn Swahili...no turning back! I'm so grateful to have Italki, and Suleiman as my teacher.

Wonderful lesson and a great teacher! He asked relevant and thoughtful questions, which made the conversation more engaging and personalized - something which really helped with the learning process. Added to this the corrections were also given in a smooth manner, without interrupting the natural flow. Overall a very positive and effective learning experience - Highly recommend!
