Hello! My name is Yoko. I am a Japanese language teacher, and I teach at a Japanese language school in Tokyo. Before this job, I worked in sales for IT companies for 15 years, so I can also teach you Business Japanese.

東京の日本語学校で働（はたら）いていました。
先生になる前は15年間、ITの会社ではたらいていました。
My hobbies include travelling, watching musicals, and trying new food around the world!
On my day off, I study English and Chinese and play a lot with my 5year child.
私の趣味は、旅行、ミュージカルを見ること、いろいろな国の料理を食べることです。
休みの日は、英語や中国語を勉強したり、子供とたくさん 遊びます。Me as a Teacher
I teach at Japanese language school in Tokyo, and also teach at online.
Most of my students are beginners, but I teach them Japanese in Japanese.
I use a lot of pictures and photos in my class.
If you don't understand Japanese at all, I can help a little in English.

Do you think it is more important to practice conversation than to learn grammar?
I think that's the correct idea.
However, if you don't have the basics of grammar, you can't speak correct Japanese.
That's why I want to teach grammar carefully to beginners. On top of that, we will also practice a lot of conversation.My teaching material

I have been having lessons with Yoko-san consistently once a week for almost two years now. I am very happy with how Yoko-san is supporting my learning journey. Her materials are great and neatly organised online so I can always retrieve past lessons. Even though I mostly book grammar-based classes, she always creates occasions for quite a bit of chatting. As a result I can now express myself more freely. Based on my experience, I recommend Yoko-san to anyone who wants to learn Japanese!

I have been studying Japanese with Yoko-san for a year anf a half now. I did both conversation and grammar classes. I started as a complete beginner and am now A2 level using Marugoto. I do not always have time to study as I work full time. Yet, I am now able to have conversations and express many things in Japanese! Every lesson with Yoko-san is a joyful and very rewarding experience. She is very committed to the success of her students and shares very useful materials immediately after class. I could not recommend Yoko-san strongly enough: she is a really great teacher!
