Hi, I'm Michelle! I'm from Sydney, Australia. My native language is English, which I speak with a standard Australian accent, and I also speak fluent German. I spent over 20 years teaching mathematics and then completed university studies in linguistics. I absolutely love teaching and I have a very clear understanding of the typical challenges my language students face, as I am also a language learner myself (currently learning French, Italian, Japanese and Portuguese).

I work best with the following types of students:
English lessons:
- Someone who has already learned some English and understands English grammatical concepts in general, but wants to improve their speaking and comprehension skills to feel more confident when having conversations with English speakers
- Plans to live in or visit Australia OR is a native German speaker
German lessons:
- Someone who is an English speaker (native or non-native)
- Is at the beginner or intermediate stages of their German learning, and wants to better understand German grammar
* I teach adults, not young learners (minimum age 15) *My lessons & teaching style
English lessons:
I specialise in helping my students to develop the skills needed to speak and understand authentic conversational English, with a particular focus on the type of English spoken in Australia. During the lessons, we can discuss a range of different topics and I will correct your mistakes, answer questions, and provide additional explanations. I can also help you to improve your pronunciation, reading and writing skills.
German lessons:
I teach German grammar in English for English speakers, as most beginner and intermediate learners learn more effectively when grammar is explained in a language they already know. I can also assist with German pronunciation and reading skills.My teaching material
