Hello! My name is Štěpán and one of my biggest interests is linguistics and learning languages. I am from the Czech Republic, so I speak fluent czech and taught myself English to a C2 level and German to a B2.
I study fashion design and am very interested in all things to do with art. I love to talk about fine art, movies, food, literature, philosophy, music and so on.
I spend my days learning, be it how to paint, how to play the guitar, or how to speak another language! I think learning is a lifelong process and that the worst thing that can happen to someone is that they stop learning new things.
Me as a Teacher
I know how hard it is sometimes to understand certain grammar rules and concepts, sometimes even to stay motivated to keep learning the language. In my approach, the most important part of learning is finding someone you can talk to without it feeling like a chore or a lesson. We will talk about whatever you want and find ways to express what you want to say.
I am very patient when it comes to little mistakes, yet I'm not shy to correct them. I also like to ask feedback from people I teach so that I can tailor my teaching style to each person specifically.
I have great experience with teaching high schoolers at a summer academy, so I'm not a newbie when it comes to teaching.
My lessons & teaching style
Learning a language is hard, let's face it. It is very important to find ways to learn a language that don't feel like you're actively learning. I will give you lots of music, film and literature recommendations, so that you can learn while relaxing.
One of the hardest parts especially is speaking, so I put a huge focus on talking. We can talk about your day, about your favorite food or band, do roleplays about going to the shops. This way you'll learn to conjure up vocabulary and grammar immediately without having to think about it.
The best way to remember something is finding it out on your own, so with every new grammar I'll guide you through the why's and how's and help you apply them

Great lesson! Štěpán was very easy to talk to, the conversation was very interesting and enjoyable, and I learned some useful vocabulary/phrases as well as practicing my speaking. Thank you!
