ELLY

I found Elly-san at the beginning of this year with 0 knowledge of Japanese. I wanted to learn the basics for a trip I am planning soon. Since I met her Elly-san has been the best teacher I could have asked for. She is very kind, funny, thoughtful, and very prepared at teaching Japanese. Each lesson she teaches with individualized care and patience. I do not exagerate when I say that she is probably the best Japanese teacher here and one of the best teachers I've met on this website. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn Japanese. I look forward to our future lesson.

I've been studying with Elly for almost four years now, and I’m so grateful to her for the progress I've made! We completed Genki II and Quartet together while I study kanji and listen to podcasts on my own. She challenges me to write and speak, which balances input with output, and I’ve noticed that vocabulary and grammar seem to stick better. When I travelled in Japan I could ask questions and have light conversations which was so satisfying. Putting in the work to learn the grammar and read can be a struggle sometimes but Elly is always relaxed and incredibly funny so I always look forward to my lessons with her.

Elly is a good teacher. She takes the time to make sure that you understand the section before moving forward. She also goes back to a section when you forget the information. She works hard to answer your questions. She works hard to help you understand Japanese and her culture.
