Hello! My name is Keiko.
I was born and raised in Japan, I live in Nara. I love living in the Kansai area and I can teach you some of the Kansai dialects if you're interested.
In my free time, I like playing tennis, studying English and watching dramas on TV.
I also I love traveling! I've been to many countries and I like to learn different cultures and people.
Me as a Teacher
I've been teaching the local students English for over 27 years and I find teaching very exciting.
Now I am also a qualified Japanese teacher and I've been teaching on italki since 2020. On this platform I've met wonderful learners and I enjoy teaching everyday. It's so much fun to talk with people from different countries. I'm patient, cheerful and friendly. So please don't be nervous and have fun with me.My lessons & teaching style
In the General Japanese Course for Beginners, I follow the syllabus of Minna no Nihongo.You can learn vocabulary, grammar, verb conjugations and useful conversations.If you want to improve overall Japanese, this is the course. It's good to have the textbook as you can review my lesson but I usually do not use textbooks in my lesson. I explain vocabulary, grammar using pictures and you can practice speaking with my original activity sheets. If you have learned some Japanese and want to improve your speaking skills, please choose informal tutoring course. We'll enjoy talking about any topic you like.

As a new Japanese learner, Keiko sensei's lessons are excellent! The lessons are well structured and she provides you the material to practice outside of class. She is encouraging and her teaching style is effective for me because she builds on grammar/vocabulary during the lesson and allows me to practice speaking a lot. I've been very happy so far with my lessons, and I would highly recommend Keiko sensei if you want to learn Japanese.
