I've been taking lessons with him for a year now and I can say that this is, hands down, the most stress-free learning environment I've ever been in. He adapts to whatever your goals are, he's also always kind, encouraging and incredibly patient. He won't put any pressure on you regarding your pace of learning or your level of knowledge. His lessons are a place where you can feel safe to make mistakes - the only thing you get in return is encouragement and knowledge. Really cool.

Tycoon is truly an excellent teacher, mentor, and person: I'm Korean-American and have had many many teachers in the past. I have even studied Korean in Korea at Yonsei University. But Tycoon is quite exceptional. He's hard-working, precise, but offers suggestions and corrections with kindness, understanding, and compassion too. Every lesson is loaded with words, expressions, grammar points. Most of all, he listens and listens with care. For many years I had an ambivalent relationship to the Korean language but Tycoon, with his patience and precision, has encouraged me to build or rebuild a bridge to my heritage language. With Tycoon, I will get there eventually, one plank at a time.

This marks two years of learning Korean with Tycoon. How's the progress? Still learning, but I can definitely feel the difference. I read faster now, my pronunciation, listening, and reading comprehension have improved. Speaking & overall understanding are still the hardest, so we're still working on those. During my trip to Korea, two moments made me smile: chatting with a taxi driver (didn't catch everything, but enough to keep it going 😅), and asking staff to remove shrimp from a dish for my friend's allergic son. Small wins, but they meant a lot. Our classes have evolved to fit my learning style better - sentence making, reading comprehension, and knowing what to focus on. If you're looking for a Korean teacher, I'd genuinely recommend Tycoon. The right teacher is whoever makes you want to keep showing up, and with Tycoon's help, I can't wait to see how much more I can improve.

This was my first trial lesson, and it was a very positive experience. The teacher was attentive, patient, and trustworthy from the very beginning, which helped me feel comfortable throughout the class. He explains things clearly and simply, making sure I understand before moving on. I felt confident asking questions and discussing my doubts, and the lesson left me motivated to continue learning. He also listened to my learning goals and is adapting the lessons to my needs while taking my current level and learning pace into account.
