Hello everyone! My name is Gabrielle, but you can call me Gabi.
I'm a Yale University graduate from Iowa who loves learning and teaching. I studied Art at university, and after growing up in a tiny town of 115 people, I've since traveled to Europe, Asia, and Africa. Though I'm currently studying Chinese at 國立成功大學, I have also spent two years living in 安徽省.Me as a Teacher
I've been an English teacher since 2018 and I am TEFL certified. I taught English in China for two years, and since returning to the US I have continued to help my Chinese students practice English online.
I love having the opportunity to interact with students one-on-one and learn more about their lives, interests, and language learning goals. I want to be someone my students feel comfortable with as I help them on their unique language learning journey.My lessons & teaching style
My current class focuses on speaking skills, with the goal being communication rather than perfection.
My goal is to engage students in an interesting, genuine conversation that allows them practice their conversational fluency with a native speaker. I love learning about what my students are interested in and catering conversational classes to what will fit them best!

Language PartnerI volunteered as a language partner for adult English learners through CPC's Adult Literacy Program.
2018 - 2020
English TeacherI taught English and designed coursework at Xiuning Middle School from 2018 to 2020 with the support of the Yale-China Association. I left China during the COVID-19 pandemic, and since then I've continued tutoring former students from Xiuning Middle School in one-on-one English lessons via WeChat.
2022 - 2024
ESL TeacherI taught students (pre-K to high school) at Tainan's American Language Center. The school is privately run and has been in operation for more than 35 years, offering conversation-focused English classes to local students. I taught large group classes as well as tutored students privately. Courses ranged from pre-K storytelling to Model UN stimulations.
