Hi, my name is Steve and I am originally from the United Kingdom but have lived all over the world teaching English for the last twenty years.Me as a Teacher
I have a lot of experience of teaching English as a second language in many countries with The British Council, CFBT and international colleges. I am a specialist in IELTS preparation and have taught Business English and general English at all levels over the years. Recently I have completed two courses with the Open University and Future Learn in order to take my teaching online.My lessons & teaching style
I like to find out the needs and interest and cultural background of my students so I can adapt the lessons to reflect this. I use a task-based learning style which incorporates all the key skills of learning English, reading writing, listening and speaking in order for the learner to achieve the task. I also combine this with input and exercises on pronunciation, vocab and grammar. I make my lessons fun and entertaining and use a variety of materials such as worksheets, course books, videos, songs and games.My teaching material

I achieved a score of 7 in my IELTS oral speaking test, and I have Steve to thank for.
I reached out to him just a day before my exam feeling overwhelmed and nervous. Steve provided me with two mock tests and evaluated my performance based on each scoring criterion with great expertise.
What I found most impressive about Steve was his unique repertoire of tips and tricks that he shared with me to help me tackle the questions more effectively. He was able to pinpoint even the slightest of my mistakes and highlight my areas of strength. It was evident that his experience as an ex-examiner had given him an edge.
Later I felt more confident during the actual exam and achieved the score I needed. I highly recommend Steve as the best IELTS tutor on italki !
