Heart

Heart works hard to push me out of my comfort zone and expose me to new grammar concepts. We discover these unfamiliar concepts through natural class progress and then practice together. I think it is important to have a teacher like Heart to help me achieve my full potential. I highly recommend Heart for others who have been learning for a while and want to break through a plateau.

Heart is an excellent teacher. She has helped me gain confidence in my speaking, as she creates an environment where I feel comfortable making mistakes, and she gently corrects them. I will continue to take classes with her in the future and highly recommend her.

Today, Heart and I reviewed something I had written related to the Korean speaking contest that I will participate in. As an editor, her grammatical knowledge is fantastic, but she also knows how to convert things to be said in a more straightforward or colloquial manner. She speaks very directly (I mean this as a compliment), and after reading what I had written, mentioned that she didn't think my choice fit very well with the contest theme and that my second choice would be a better fit. It seems like some teachers don't want to "challenge" the students' thinking (perhaps because the student could lose motivation), but Heart speaks honestly with me, which helps me improve my Korean skills.

I hadn't seen Heart for a long time due to my busy schedule, but our class felt like friends catching up after not being able to meet. Over the past 2 months, I began an intermediate level course at a Sejong Institute, and was happy that I could use new grammar/vocabulary during the conversation. Heart is a grammar expert, and is able to help me fine-tune what I learned, while also helping me clarify some questions about how to use the new grammar forms correctly.
