After all these lessons with Kai, I have grown in several ways. Firstly, I am not afraid of speaking and writing anymore, especially writing. It helps me with my Chinese writing too. Now, I feel less pressure when I write, whether in English or in Chinese. I like to listen to podcasts and I can listen to most of the contents of different podcasts without subtitles or transcripts. I am also able to express myself better. When I write, I need to think, which helps me speak and write more logically. That is a hidden advantage of writing.

Kai gave me some amazing advice about traveling to SEA, and she also taught me about three of the important holidays for Malaysia and China coming up! We also talked about different foods that are worth trying if you visit SEA, and I got to make more progress with learning Malay. Super fun as always :)

I highly recommend booking a class with Teacher Kai! I think it’s important to genuinely enjoy what you learn in order to progress and to also have a safe space to experiment and try out new vocabulary or grammar structures. Teacher Kai gives me this opportunity through what she has aptly named our “restful learning” sessions.
我认为为了取得进步,真心享受学习的过程以及拥有一个尝试新词汇和语法的安全空间非常重要。Kai老师通过她所称之为“restful learning”课程为我提供了这个机会。

I had fun reading a story in Malay that used many words I've already learned, and I enjoyed trying to piece together the meaning of the sentences and figure out the whole translation! Kai is really quick-witted and great with jokes, so I'm looking forward to our next class :)

My second time learning how to write Chinese characters was a little challenging but fun! I was able to learn more about the stroke order for slightly more complicated characters, and each of Kai's corrections and explanations helped me improve throughout the lesson. I always enjoy her classes :D
