I’ve now had more than 120 lessons with Lydia over a 3 to 4 year period. If you are interested in Chinese, you won’t find a better teacher, here is why. Lydia 是一位非常友好和耐心的老师，能够适应我的学习方式。 每节课都很有趣，因为我们讨论很多不同的话题。 ‘‘论很多不同的话题’’ This is what makes our lessons very rewarding. It takes a very special teacher to help a student talk about many different things and not just follow a book. Lydia gave me the confidence to speak, to use what is available to me, to express myself in Chinese. Lydia 用许多不同的材料让我们的课程变得有趣，例如视频、音乐和许多不同的图片。 Lydia 的普通话非常清晰，是标准的普通话 Lydia 非常了解我的中文水平，可以用我能听懂的方式说话，而且在每堂课中都会添加新的词汇和句子。就这样，我的普通话水平一步步提高。 Nothing encourages a student more than the feeling that you are making progress and Lydia’s lessons give me that feeling. Something amazing happened with my son’s Chinese last week that really surprised us! We walked into a Chinese restaurant, and he not only ordered our food entirely in Chinese but even struck up a conversation with some of the other Chinese speakers there! We couldn’t be prouder. He said he felt confident thanks to Lydia’s lessons, where they cover all sorts of topics using fun videos, pictures, and structured practice. Now, he’s also getting more interested in reading Chinese characters. He loves how Lydia uses pictures, stories, and games to make characters stick. We’re so grateful to have Lydia as his teacher and couldn’t recommend her more!

I have done over 100 lessons with Lydia and even when I reach my desired fluency level probably will never stop. You will not find a better teacher than her. Somehow she always knows exactly where I'm at in my learning and how to push me. She always uses vocabulary and sentence structure within my skill set. She remembers everything so every lesson is perfectly tailored just for me, things I like to discuss, current happenings, pets, food, etc. Somehow she does this for all her students. My world has opened up since learning chinese, I have made chinese friends and attended cultural events and my world is so much better having done so. It's so great being able to have conversations in chinese that I thought I'd never be able to do. None of this would have been possible without Lydia. If you are lucky enough to be her student and work hard she will help you achieve whatever your fluency goal is.

I’ve been learning with Lydia for almost two years now, and my Chinese has improved so much. We use HSK books for structure, but she balances that with plenty of conversation practice, so it never feels boring or repetitive. She’s great at explaining things in a way that just clicks, and she always knows how to make the lessons fit what I need—whether it’s improving my speaking or focusing on reading and writing. What makes her stand out is how her lessons make learning Chinese fun and interesting. She mixes things up in a way that keeps me motivated to stick with it (and I'm learning just as a hobby). What could feel like a chore always ends up being something I look forward to every week. She’s super organized but also flexible—if I want to talk more or switch gears, she goes with it. It’s been amazing to see how much I’ve learned and I can’t imagine finding a better teacher!
