Hi! Iām Andrew Polkāa certified English teacher with 20+ years of experience and a passion for helping students SPEAK with confidence. My lessons ar dedicated to the art of authentic communication. I move beyond the textbook to help you find the absolute CONFIDENCE to be yourself in the Engish language and in your everyday life.
My Philosophy: The Power of Authentic Expression
Communication is about more than just getting the words right; itās about the freedom to share your ideas WITHOUT the weight of perfectionism. I believe that when you remove the fear of judgment, true fluency follows.
The Method I Use: A Person-Centered Approach
Grounded in Carl Rogersā Person-Centered Approach.
I am a great listener and a fast typer, so I don't have to verbally correct my students. I type the corrected form of what the student was attempting to say. I have received a lot of positive feedback from my students for correcting them in this way. My sessions always generate some laughter. Learning a second language by having fun is the best way to learn it. I also write my own lessons customized to meet the individual student's needs.
I teach using a student-centered approach asking questions which center around the student. This technique gives the student a lot of time to speak. For example, Lesson 907 which I wrote is titled "Resetting your brain." The topic is stress. It's a cool story. After reading the story, I ask student-centered questions such as 1. I am very satisfied with Andrew. He is patient, easy to understand, and his lessons are original, fun, and never boring. He has a great sense of humor and a similar view on life as I do, so our lessons often feel like a good conversation, not a class. Andrew likes to say that he is a philosopher ā and honestly, he might be right. His views on life are deep, but explained in a simple and clear way. Thanks to him, my English is improving without stress. Learning with Andrew feels more like talking with a smart friend than sitting in a classroom.
