Hi, I’m Sean. I began teaching myself languages in 2018 whilst studying History at the University of Leeds, including a year at the Sorbonne in Paris, where I studied entirely in French. Since then, I’ve continued learning languages independently for research, enjoyment, and daily life. These experiences have shaped the way I think about language learning.
I now live in Hanoi, where I’m completing a Master’s degree in History at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, studying entirely in Vietnamese.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me playing or watching sports, enjoying a good film or series, reading and writing, or spending time with the people (and dog!) I love.
Me as a Teacher
I'm a DELTA-qualified English teacher with over six years' experience teaching both online and in the classroom, specialising in Academic English. Alongside teaching, I've studied and conducted research in multiple languages, including at the University of Leeds and the Sorbonne, and I'm currently completing a Masters degree in Vietnam for which I have to carry out research, write essays, give presentations, and have discussions in Vietnamese. I understand both the academic and practical challenges of studying in another language. My teaching is structured, analytical, and supportive, helping students develop the clarity and confidence to write independently at university level and beyond.
My lessons & teaching style
I offer a structured Academic English programme aligned with university and postgraduate standards. We focus on clarity, cohesion, argumentation, hedging, paraphrasing, and summarising, as well as practical skills such as finding suitable sources, thinking critically, planning assignments, and referencing correctly. In your trial lesson, we'll discuss your goals and identify priorities - whether you need the full programme or more targeted support. Lessons are focused, practical, and include detailed feedback to ensure clear, lasting progress.
I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals.

Really good, he has good skills to change the content of the class if it is needed and always make research to help me improve my skills regarding my specific problems or the topic spoken in the class.

Always a pleasure to have lesson with him. I learn new words every time, we discuss about interesting topics and as a plus I get a deep understanding of English culture and related history.
