AKI HAPPY

My weekly Happy Conversation lessons with Aki Sensei have become a really important part of my study routine. It’s funny how it works - on any given week I often feel like I’m struggling but I can look back to a few months ago and see how much progress I’ve made. Her infinite patience with my clumsy Japanese is much appreciated, and she always gives me enough time to work out what I want to say. She is clearly a gifted and experienced teacher and I’m really glad I found her on this site!

Today was the first lesson with Aki sensei, it was a great lesson! She prepared cards with different topics, such as: - If you could tell something to all people on the Earth, what it would be? - If you have a chance, would you go to the Mars? - What book made the biggest impression on you? I think its a great way to make lesson, every time we can pick different themes and discuss it. Your Japanese level will be improved much faster if you will speak on different themes everytime, in this way you can broad you vocabulary, and also you can heard what Sensei thinks about that, which is very interesting as we all have totally different backgrounds, and that that we can talk about anything online while studing language its just great. Thank you Aki-sensei, looking forward to the next lesson with you!

Today’s Happy Conversation lesson was another great lesson. We talked about a lot of different topics like usual, but it seemed like we focused a little on describing people since I brought up several people we hadn’t talked about before. This has been something I’ve struggled with in the past (I don’t even do it well in English 😅) but I thought it went better than usual today which was a nice sign of progress. I was also pleased that I was able to tell a somewhat complicated story in a way that Aki Sensei could understand. Even though I got stuck on a few words that I couldn’t remember, it was a lot of fun and Aki Sensei always keeps the conversation moving at a nice pace without rushing me 😊

Aki-Sensei is an excellent teacher. She is attentive to the student and makes the lesson fun and engaging. She also made sure to communicate very well before the day of lesson to get to know a little about my daughter and made the lesson fun for her. Thank you so much! If you book with this teacher, you will not be disappointed! We will book again.

Great lesson as usual! My children wanted to show off all their things and Aki Sensei is always good at entertaining their interests. We also learned a little about the Japanese holiday, Setsubun, and the traditions involved. We sang our favorite song, "Oni no Pantsu" and practiced hiragana na.

I’ve been doing classes with Aki for several months on a weekly basis. Sometimes twice per week. At my request, we have been working our way through the Genki I textbook (since I already owned it). We work on dialogues, grammar and vocabulary together and regular homework from the text. Aki is always a patient, enthusiastic, encouraging, and fun teacher. Classes are enjoyable and she is always willing to work with me on any questions that I have. We also do some chat time in Japanese as well (as much as my Japanese level allows 🙂). Aki is consistently well-prepared, engaged, and supportive and has helped me so much in my language learning but also in my confidence to try and actually communicate what I’m learning. I would absolutely recommend Aki as a teacher / tutor for anyone’s Japanese learning journey.
