I’m a native Czech speaker with 4,000+ lessons taught on italki, seven years of teaching experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law. For the past eight years, I’ve been traveling the world and working with students from many different cultures, which helps me explain Czech in a clear, practical, and human way.
My lessons focus on real-life Czech, the kind you can actually use, not endless textbook rules. I enjoy sharing Czech culture, history, and humor along the way, and I always adapt lessons to your goals and pace. My classes are friendly, relaxed, and confidence-building. Mistakes are more than welcome.

My lessons are practical, engaging, and fully personalized to your goals, interests, and learning style. I focus primarily on conversation, as it’s the most effective way to gain real confidence in a language.
We’ll also work on grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, always in a clear and useful way. If you’re starting from zero, don’t worry, we’ll build everything step by step from the basics.
Before our first lesson, I ask students to send a short introduction. This helps me understand where you are now, where you want to go, and how we can get you there efficiently.

Matej is always great. Easily the best teacher I've had on Italki. he is extremely patient and good at speaking at your level no matter how low that is. He also frequently stays a few minutes late if we haven't finished what we are going over. Which is something no other teach I've had has ever done. I always look forward to learning from him.

I'm a pharmacist from the UK who moved to the Czech Republic to study a PhD. Matěj is an excellent teacher who in a short space of time has taken me from zero Czech to being able to understand native speakers and have conversations with them, which is something I never thought would be possible. As someone who has unsuccessfully tried to learn many languages in the past and especially struggled in high school with them, I have found Matěj's unique, interactive lesson structure really effective for me and I was able to learn more than I have ever learnt before.
