About Me

I am a PhD student in Edinburgh, Scotland. I like to sing and appreciate popular cultures from different times. I worked as a private tutor and also in language schools in the past. I have experience with students in different age groups. I came up with the idea of learning Mandarin through singing songs with my friends who are trying to learn mandarin. I hope I could share this way of learning with more students.

Me as a Teacher

#Original teaching materials #No textbook. I am very creative and passionate as a teacher. I don't like the idea of learning for exams. I believe learning languages is an eye-opening and cultural exchange process. If the student is looking for some exam instructions, I will not be the right choice.

My lessons & teaching style

I will integrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing into the process of learning how to sing Mandarin songs. I will explain the pronunciations and grammatical rules in the lyrics to the student. According to the lyrics, I will design conversations to help the students remember and practice the sentence and vocabularies. Normally, I will decide the content of the lessons but if the student already had some mandarin foundation and is interested in some other songs or singers, flexible arrangements can be made.
