I'm Aki, a friendly and patient Japanese teacher with online teaching experience.
I offer conversation-focused lessons, from casual talk to structured practice with notes and homework. You can choose a course that fits your goals and budget.
You don't need 60-minute lessons to improve. For many learners, 30 or 45 minutes is a more efficient and affordable option. Some students also prefer biweekly lessons, using the time between classes for self-study. This often leads to better progress than casual conversation every week.

We had a lovely time talking about calligraphy and I learned a lot of vocabulary related to that! Also some grammar that happened to come up. I really appreciate that Aki-san takes time after the lesson to write out sample sentences using that vocabulary and grammar that I can use to review!

I am really impressed with how intuitive Aki-san is- she always picks up on the things that I'm struggling with, even if I don't realize what they are. Very fun lesson with Aki talking about my recent art classes and final projects, sketching vs taking photos, and how much more difficult it is to look through photos when they’re digital vs film. Talking with Aki is always such a pleasure. She’s not only incredibly easy and fun to chat with but she always gives careful notes and feedback as well as helpful insights into Japanese culture!

I think I talked a lot today! 話しすぎました！I had a wonderful time talking about my Japan trip and also about how much Aki's conversation lessons help me to understand and speak more and more Japanese. And also to have the confidence to just speak it everywhere in hotels, the post office or just standing in line. Whenever someone can't speak English I can speak enough Japanese to get by and have lots of fun traveling Japan.

A wonderful lesson with Aki to close out the year! We talked about our holiday plans, wild and domestic bunnies and how cute they are, taking care of plants indoors vs outdoors, sketching, and the benefits of online vs in-person classes. It’s been another fantastic year with Aki, filled with great conversation and feedback. I look forward to continuing them in the new year!

Wonderful lesson with Aki talking about my recent trip to Disney World, what it’s like to go to crowded places these days when you’re use to less busy areas, people always on their devices, as well as how different idioms are in each language! Such a fun lesson conversing and learning with Aki!
