Born in Bulgaria, based in the Netherlands, and having lived in Malta, Germany and the US, I know how scary it can be to start speaking a foreign language. Let's break the communication barrier together! I'm a language nerd, DIY sewist and upcycling enthusiast, mom of house plants, and I study Medieval swordfighting. Now, tell me :) What is your passion?

Me as a Teacher

I try to create a relaxed supportive environment, in which you can speak freely and experiment with language. To do that I will work with you on finding discussion topics you like and I will provide structural support - vocabulary, functional phrases and style guides. Mistakes are welcome. :) That's how we learn!

My lessons & teaching style

The goal in my lessons is to build up your confidence to speak. We keep an eye on accuracy in grammar and pronunciation, but we focus on the communication skills - what language is used in various situations, what word patterns native speakers use, how to recover from mistakes.

Super fun lesson, Maria prepared a fun document about pets to help with questions/answering and facilitating a discussion! She also looked over words I was trying to learn and included them in the document and lesson. I really enjoy talking to her and had a great time!
