About Me
italki teacher since Jun 9, 2021
I am currently working to receive my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification from the International TEFL Academy. Once I complete my certification I will be a certified/licensed teacher. I graduated college in May 2021 with a Bachelor's in Arts degree in History with two subdivisions in Japanese and Digital Marketing. I currently live in the United States with dreams of moving to South Korea (where I studied abroad for six months) or Japan (where lived for one summer during high school). I am currently studying Korean while continuing my Japanese studies via selfstudy. I hope we can learn much from one another. If you have any questions about living in the US, please ask.
Me as a Teacher
International TEFL Academy Student: I am currently studying to become a licensed/certified teacher in the English Language
I studied Japanese for four years in college and Korean for one year. Because of this, I know how difficult it is to learn another language and what kind of teacher is best to teach a foreign language.
During my Freshman and Sophomore years in college, I volunteered to edit the essays of students learning English and also peer reviewed papers by fellow history majors
My lessons & teaching style
Media: You get to choose what we focus on and how the class is set up regarding what you want to listen to or read.
Grammar Centric: We will use a textbook of my or your own choosing depending on your level. Native materials such as music, videos, movies, articles, etc can be used if requested.
Conversation Centric: We will just practise your listening and speaking skills. If you are a beginner or low-intermediate, I will choose the topic. If you are upper-intermediate or advanced, you can choose the topic. We will also use native materials to assess your understanding of spoken English in other accents.

It was okay. I had the lesson on italki and the connection was a little bit bad, so I couldn't understand everything what she said and we also got disconnected 1×.

Tamika seems to be a great girl. She's honest, and she made me feel comfortable during our first class.
