Hello! My name is Amy (she/her) and I would love to be your English tutor. I grew up in the southern United States (Louisiana), but my mother is from Canada. I have dual citizenship. French is my second language, but I'm still only at an intermediate level! Outside of North America, I've traveled a bit in Europe and Australia. I'm really interested in plants and animals, and I also enjoy video games, art, and trying new foods. In college I studied anthropology, and now I work as an archaeological field technician when local fieldwork is available. I hope this can be a way for me to meet interesting new people while also expanding my own knowledge! I hope we can speak in conversational English, as you would chat with a friend. I have tried using apps and workbooks myself to learn French, but I feel like the speech often seems unnatural, or the sentences presented are too bizarre to be practical. I personally learned best in casual settings, so I hope to present that kind of atmosphere, with no fear of judgement or stress. However, I am also quite good at spelling, punctuation, and grammar. If you need help editing a writing sample, I can check it for mistakes and explain any corrections! My tutoring style will be very laid-back and casual. If we have continued lessons together, I will try to introduce new topics, vocabulary, and phrases each time. Once again, it was a wonderful lesson! Amy came with some interesting subjects that we could talk a lot about. Not only that, but there also were some new expressions and words I learned with her, which are common in spoken English and definitely are worth knowing - and maybe I would take way more time to just come across with them someday.
