I am an experienced language teacher who has a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and a Master's in TESL. I love meeting new people having genuine, interesting conversations.Me as a Teacher
During my teaching practices in over 5 years, I have worked with students and colleagues from incredibly diverse ethnic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds. And as a successful L2 English learner myself, I am very emphatic toward other Chinese learners and linguistically informed about adult learners’ situations.
Being a Chinese teacher, I have always believed in bringing the joy and knowledge of Chinese learning to multicultural communities and creating engaging, innovative, and student-centered classrooms.
I also have a down-to-earth and compassionate personality that makes me an approachable instructor. I enjoy teaching and tapping into my knowledge and expertise to motivate students.My lessons & teaching style
I love incorporating communicative production activities in class. I don't believe in grammatical drills and vocab memorizations when it comes to language learning. I like to make my lesson fun and interactive where students get to make a lot of conversational output. I am open to teaching students of all ages!My teaching material

Dee was great! We just started doing lessons together and she's been very helpful in getting the Mandarin flowing after taking a lot of time off from practice. She has a great lesson plan each time and is very patient guiding you to the correct words and phrases as you work through practice. Highly recommend taking lessons with Dee!

Dee is very patient and our conversation practice is engaging and relevant. As an ABC it is very helpful that she is fluent in both chinese and english and can explain the nuance of words and phrases.

Dee is a phenomenal teacher! She was great at tailoring the materials to my needs. She also has a very casual teaching style that I loved because it fostered a great learning environment. As a result, I wasn’t afraid to ask questions, ask her to repeat herself, or to elaborate on certain topics. I thoroughly enjoyed learning from Dee!
