Hi, my name is Mel. I am from London, England, but lived in Mauritius for many years. I recently relocated to London. I am a native English speaker with extensive experience in proofreading and subediting English news publications in Mauritius. I have travelled to many countries and am fascinated by the local culture and cuisine. In the past, I've had the opportunity to teach adults from Japan and enjoyed the experience. I have taught English on a voluntary basis at an orphanage for boys, but will be teaching English to adults on italki.Me as a Teacher
As a teacher, I am friendly, approachable and patient. If you want to improve your English through conversation, I can talk to you on a range of topics from travel, work and family to movies and current affairs, or we can talk about any other subjects which you find interesting. I can help you with vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, idioms and expressions.
I believe that learning is a two-way process where I am here to help but would value input and suggestions from you too. If there are areas where you feel you need more help, then we can concentrate on those. Communication is key. I specialize in proofreading so if you also require this service, I am happy to help.My lessons & teaching style
My teaching style is informal and casual. I am here to help you on your language journey at a pace with which you feel comfortable. I will note any weaknesses you might have and, if you are willing, provide homework to be discussed in the next lesson. I will use books, articles from websites, news articles and videos which can either be given to you prior to the lesson for us to discuss or for you to read during the lesson so you can practise pronunciation.My teaching material

Thank you very much. I have a nice expperience practicing English with you, even though there are some techinical issue. I guess that you have slow down the speed and pronuciate the words clearliy while you speaking, therefore I can hear you clearly, and which is very helpful! I look forward to next class and trying some other topics to talk!
