Hi, I’m Etsuko! I’m a native Japanese speaker. I was born and raised in Fukui Prefecture. There is a dinosaur museum nearby. (わたしは、えつこです。恐竜博物館で有名な福井県にすんでいます。）
I have two granddaughters. They are very talkative. Watching them learn to speak, I became more interested in the Japanese language. I learned many things that I did not know even though I am Japanese. The Japanese language is very interesting.（孫たちが話せるようになるのを見ていて、日本語がとても興味深いと思うようになりました。）Me as a Teacher
I was an elementary school teacher for 35 years. I have a lot of experience teaching hiragana, katakana, kanji, and reading Japanese. Depending on your level of Japanese, I can use easy Japanese or speak politely. Furthermore, I have passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test.
I have experience teaching English to third graders and above. In addition to teaching, I am also continuing to learn English. I take online lessons on "italki" and join a local English chatting club.

I teach using “Irodori” in the beginner’s class. You don't need to buy the textbook because you can download it from the website. I also show the text in PowerPoint or PDFs, so you don't need to download it to learn. I also love Genki's textbooks. I teach the intermediate level using “Marugoto”. You will need to purchase the textbook. I also have other textbooks. If you want to use one, I can deal with it. My role-playing and making sentences from pictures lessons are also very popular.

I really enjoy Etsuko-san classes and I think she might be one of the best teachers on this platform!
She is always prepared for the lessons, prepares interesting and helpful materials and explains the content clearly!
I highly recommend her! If you are looking for a structured lesson and you need a teacher you will prepare engaging materials for you she is a great choice!

Today’s class was quite good where Etsuko-sensei brought additional materials to help me better understand the grammar. N2 grammar can be very confusing so the supporting materials made it easier to grasp the concepts and nuisances across similar grammar structures.

I've had 7 lessons with Etsuko sensei and she's been great. We are studying materials to prepare for JLPT N3. I've enjoyed each lesson. Etsuko sensei explains Japanese grammar and vocabulary very well so I can understand the questions and answers to the test problems. I feel I can pass the test if I were to continue learning from her. I would highly recommend her for JLPT test preparations!
