I just finished my third conversation lesson with Antti, and I can say he is a great conversationalist. He is always ready with a topic, or when I bring up a topic, he is ready with many follow up questions that really test the boundaries of my Finnish novel. When I am unfamiliar with a word or structure, he puts in the chat, so I can go back later and review it. We've had very wide ranging discussions touching on such diverse topics as natural disasters, sports, his university studies, my job, movies and tv series. I feel like I am improving my skills and more importantly my confidence with each session.

Learning Finnish

This was my 15th or 16th lesson and the first one since coming back from a week long trip to Finland — when I first started lessons with Satu I had studied for just over a year but had very little confidence speaking. In just a few months, I've really grown that confidence through lessons with Satu, and I don't think it would have been possible without her help! The lessons are always interesting and varied, from basic conversations to very specific discussions about video game characters and mechanics!

Jenni is such a supportive, motivating teacher. She alwaya adapts to my weaknesses, speed and the topics I would like to focus on. She uses a variety of sources for the lessons and homework, she‘s creative and always in such a good mood - it‘s fun to learn Finnish with you Jenni!🤩

Salla is truly amazing! ⭐️ I started learning Finnish with her as a beginner, and I've made great progress. She always comes prepared to lessons and is flexible to adjust to what I need help with. She provides helpful materials and takes notes during our lessons that she shares with me afterward. I was preparing for the highest level of the YKI test (C1) and Pinja guided me through this process beautifully. She is very friendly and encouraging and tries to boost your confidence at all times (sometimes I suspected she might be praising my performance a little too much but that might also by my imposter syndrome speaking :-D). She is very flexible and if you know what you want and where you want to go with your language learning journey, she will do her best to get you there with different exercises. We discussed all kinds of serious issues of our times such as politics and climate change (all in the target language Finnish, of course!) but we also laughed a lot, and I truly had an amazing time. I have had four different teachers on and off before, but Ida is by far the best. In my opinion, she is truly exceptional. I’ve been studying with her for around three months now, and I’ve found her to be an expert in teaching Finnish, especially in combining grammar with speaking in a very simple and effective way. I see myself more confident in speaking and using grammer. Best thing about her is that her energy level is always the same, which motivates me a lot. Her lessons are simple yet incredibly useful for improving my spoken Finnish. I also get plenty of opportunities to practice writing. Overall, learning the language with Ida is fun, progress is quick, and easy. She is patient and continues to correct my mistakes until I get them right. I feel comfortable making errors in pronunciation or grammar as she corrects them in very simple ways. I couldn’t ask for a better teacher!
