My lessons focus on all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), but spoken conversation is clearly the focus due to the nature of italki. I use a variety of tools to expose my students to an ever-increasing range of subjects to exercise and expand their conversation skills while keeping things light and fun. I'm also open to adapting my style to what the student is interested in. As someone that has learned languages from scratch myself, I can put myself in your shoes and tailor my teaching to better suit your needs as they change. I always encourage my students to be patient and not worry about making mistakes. Confidence is often more important than accuracy! I avoid the use of transliteration in my lessons, as I feel it is detrimental in the long-term. Having said that, my students are naturally free to use it themselves.
