Yarphel La is an encouraging and intelligent teacher who has been a magical part of my journey as a half Tibetan taking the initiative to finally start the process of learning to comfortably read and speak Tibetan. After first completing 5 wonderful in-person sessions in Dharamshala earlier this year, I've enjoyed making progress through our continued sessions online. Yarphel La is great at language instruction, educating about Tibetan culture/customs, AND helping me build confidence in my ability. Thank you Genla Yarphel!

Thupten is a good teacher. He gives out very calming and friendly energies. He not only teaches Tibetan as a language but also as a culture. He is knowledgable in Tibetan Buddhism from his monastic background and often blends language study with interesting info about Buddhism. I totally recommend him for complete beginners.

Customized learning is his specialty. Norbu knows how to blend each lesson with schooling and context. His ability to guide my sometimes abstract curiosity into teachable learning makes the lessons fun and useful at the same time. I’m making way more progress than I thought possible.

It’s sooooooooo helpful to study colloquial Tibetan with somebody who has both a clear mastery of the language AND a lived experience of learning it as a non-native tongue. Adelaide intuitively knows where the most prominent stumbling blocks lie, and can provide immense clarity where there has otherwise been a mess of confusion. Many thanks.

Great lesson with Kunchok! We practiced more reading and Kunchok reminded me of how the ལ subscripts change the pronunciation of a word. It is getting easier and Kunchok did a great job of breaking down the sentences so that I could understand the individual parts!

Studying Tibetan with Phurbu Tashi has been a great experience! He’s a very attentive and patient teacher who keeps the whole lesson focused on learning. He always provides a lot of useful new material and sticks to the schedule — no last‑minute cancellations or rescheduling. His approach to teaching is unique and really works! Lessons are structured yet engaging, and I’ve made noticeable progress. Highly recommend! Thank you!

He's really great at making it feel easy and doing drills that don't feel boring but feel exciting. I was so anxious for some reason, and he was really helpful at calming me down and having me focus.

My background is in chos-skad, with limited experience in everyday modern speech. Starting classes with Da wa lags has been eye-opening: practical, well structured, and surprisingly fun.

Tashi is a very good teacher. For the past few months we have had class most days, and I am impressed with how my listening and reading comprehension has improved. He is very patient and will often explain things to me many different ways when there's something I don't understand. He is very energetic and engaged with the class. I would highly recommend him as a teacher.

Shawo is a very friendly and patient Tibetan teacher. I read slow and don't yet know much, but she lets me take my time and waits for me to finish trying to read and corrects me as needed and does so in a helpful and kind way. Her English and Chinese are both very good, so she is well able to help people from multiple different countries. I highly recommend studying or practicing with her. : )
