The waiter or waitress – the person who takes your order and brings your food. Example: Il cameriere porta il menù al tavolo.

The list of dishes and drinks available in a restaurant. Example: Possiamo vedere il menù, per favore?

A small dish served before the main course (starter). Example: Come antipasto prendo la bruschetta.

The first main dish in an Italian meal, usually pasta or risotto. Example: Il primo piatto oggi è la lasagna

The main course, usually meat or fish. Example: Come secondo prendo il pesce alla griglia.

A side dish that comes with the main course, such as salad or vegetables. Example: Prendo un’insalata come contorno.
