There are two ways to use 'where' in Portuguese: "Onde" e "Aonde". Do you know the difference between them?

Onde e Aonde

This is used to talk about location in general, like "Where do you live?" ("Onde você mora?") or "I don't know where I am" ("Eu não sei onde estou"), with an idea of permanence, even if temporarily.

This is used with verbs that require a preposition, and it generally gives an idea of movement or direction.

E.g.: "Where do you go?" ("Aonde você vai?")

The 'A' in 'Aonde' works as a preposition.
