Ah, I see, now that you gave the whole sentence. And adjective followed by certain verbs forms a sort of 'adjective phrase' (not sure what the real term is). Good looking = something looks good, like an attractive person. Foul smelling = something smells bad, like a dump. Pleasant sounding = something sound pleasant, like music that you like. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how these work.
